About Izzy
Izzy is my name, hunting is my game. I am a cute (at least my human thinks so) cat who loves the outdoors. No lizard or bird is safe when I’m around. My brothers beware, if it’s mine they keep away or I’ll shred them like I did my human. I am no respecter of persons despite their feeding and loving me. Incidentally, lest anyone get the idea my sister is spared, I torture her.
So where did I come up with iInfidel, I’m a loner, always hung on the other side of the curtains (view is better that way). I subscribe to no religion, don’t need to cause I am cat. However, the others consider my human an infidel. Not sure what the others consider me, probably *shudder* lunch.
Btw, Izzy is Hebrew for lovely and is (depending on source) the familiar form of Isaac, Isidore, or Israel but don’t call me lovely, Izzy will do.
FYI: Israel is pronounced IS-rah-el. It is of Hebrew origin. Possibly ” God perseveres, contends”. Biblical: when Jacob, son of Isaac, was in his nineties, God changed his name to Israel as a token of blessing. His 12 sons became the ancestors of the Israelite nation. Author Israel Shenker.
Isaac is pronounced EYE-zik. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is “laughter”. Biblical: the only son of Abraham by his wife Sarah. Violinist Itzhak (ITS-hahk) Perlman; scientist Isaac Newton; angler Izaak Walton; authors Isaac Bashevis Singer, Isaac Asimov; football player Isaac Bruce; singer Isaac Hanson
The boy’s name Isidore is of Greek origin, and its meaning is “gift of Isis”. Isis was the principal goddess of ancient Egypt, and Isidore was a popular name among the ancient Greeks. There were several saints named Isidore. Isadora is the feminine form.
I was not named for a Greek.
